REPUBLIC flagship store, Leeds

U.K.-based Janous Design recently completed the new Republic flagship store in Leeds, England. The three-level, 13,000-sq.-ft. store is located on Briggate, one of the principal shopping streets in the city.

The three floors are linked together by a sculptural staircase, which forms the heart of the space. The central stair creates the perfect people-watching platform, an architectural expression of the design team’s idea to create a “social experience.”
Republic LeedsThe design team wanted to give the men’s floor a more masculine aesthetic, with square-tube, linear and angular elements creating a subtle, subconscious differentiation from the rest of the space. The eclectic furniture is an extension of the building’s architectural attitude.

The design team’s overall goal was to create an inspiring look that reflects the latest trends and inspires the male customer.  A simple and understated approach was adopted for the windows in Republic Leedsorder to give the products on display more focus. Set apart from the rest of the store, the “Denim Guru” combines theater and service.

The design team used new fixtures along with vintage pieces, giving the area a distinct heritage look.
