The London Studio based Jonathan Tuckey Design worked with New York-based apothecary brand MALIN + GOETZ on the design of their two London-based shops in Covent Garden and Islington.

The shop on Upper Street, in Islington, features a replacement shopfront that shows off the shop’s corner position within this characterful neighbourhood and re-establishes the height and light present in the original Victorian premises.

The shop features a plywood superstructure that combines a coffered ceiling with display shelves and screens that define different spaces within the interior.

Reclaimed shop fittings and display cabinets sit within the shop on a terrazzo floor and, when the shop is closed, the interior is visible through a veil of 12’ high curtains.

The shop on Monmouth Street, in Covent Garden, features a single large vitrine-like window acting as a threshold between the cinematic interior and this busy London shopping street.

A felt-lined ‘tunnel’ acts as a ‘cleansing’ space between outside and in and, within the shop, the display shelves hover off the illuminated walls and are reflected in a reflective fabric ceiling, expanding the space outwards and upwards.
