Cosmetics brand M•A•C has continued its recent African expansion with a first store in Nigeria

M·A·C has launched in Nigeria with the brand’s first store in the Ikeja City Mall located in Lagos, one of Africa’s fastest growing cities.

With a population of nearly 8 million people according to 2006 figures (today estimated at 20.5 million), the Nigerian commercial capital celebrated the opening on Saturday. This is the first time authentic M·A·C products have been available in the country.

The store aims to demonstrate the brand ethos of “All Ages, All Races, All Sexes”, and a large range of M·A·C products is available (including humidity-resistant makeup) designed to suit every skintone. In-store visuals will also be dark-skinned. “To be able to offer the true M·A·C experience through fully qualified and trained makeup artists, and to ensure the consumer can now purchase the authentic M·A·C product in Lagos is very important to us,” said Karen Buglisi, Global Brand President of M·A·C Cosmetics.
A second Nigerian M·A·C store is planned to open in The Palms Mall during 2013. Zambia in December 2012, and Bostwana in January this year both welcomed new M.A.C stores as part of the brand’s push into emerging markets in Africa. M.A.C launched in South Africa over a decade ago and now boasts 22 locations in the country.

Founded in Toronto, Canada in 1984, M·A·C (Make-up Art Cosmetics), is now part of the Estée Lauder group and is present in 79 countries around the world.

M.A.C is hot on the heels of beauty brand IMAN, launched in 1994 by the world famous Somali supermodel. The Iman brand is currently available in South Africa, Nigeria, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana, Angola, Kenya, and Botswana.
