The Gio Moretti Boutique in Milan stands as one of the most prestigious fashion and design destinations in the international retail scene. The Moretti family, renowned collectors of modern and contemporary art, entrusted architect Fernando Mosca with the design of their retail spaces since 1995. Over the years, the boutique has evolved into an iconic venue where fashion, art, and architecture coexist in perfect harmony.
A Milanese icon of fashion and luxury
The current Gio Moretti Boutique in Milan is the result of a gradual merging of different volumes. Originally covering 450 sqm, the space has been expanded to its current 1,600 sqm spread over three levels. The ground floor houses the women’s collections and accessories, while the lower floor is dedicated to menswear. The first floor features the contemporary collection, enhanced by a library area within the men’s department — a detail that reflects the Moretti family’s cultured and sophisticated vision of fashion.

Architecture and materials by Fernando Mosca
Designed by Fernando Mosca, the boutique is defined by refined material choices and a masterful use of light. The Spanish sandstone flooring “Bianco Paloma” establishes a dialogue with sculptural surfaces that define the spatial rhythm. Ceilings are crossed by linear cuts of light, visually connecting the three levels and enhancing the sense of continuity and openness throughout the store.
Light as a design element
The three staircases connecting the levels represent the architectural heart of the boutique. The central staircase, with glass balustrades and polished steel handrails, enhances brightness and spatial fluidity. The U-shaped staircase, crafted with the same materials, achieves a floating effect thanks to steps anchored only to a central beam, detached from the perimeter walls. The vertical surfaces echo the same graphic rhythm, generating a coherent and dynamic visual balance. A transparent elevator reinforces the visual connection among the levels, amplifying the perception of light and continuity between architecture and interior design.

The creative approach of Fernando Mosca
Argentinian-born Fernando Mosca built his career in Milan through a synthesis of artistic sensibility, cultural awareness, and architectural precision. Founded in 1994, his studio develops projects across the fashion, hospitality, and luxury residential sectors, combining traditional craftsmanship with innovative materials. In fashion retail, he has designed interiors for brands such as Sergio Rossi, Gianni Versace, Jil Sander, Frette, and Cruciani, shaping a distinctive approach that turns every boutique into an immersive and emotional experience.
