Pharmathek automates drug storage and dispensing at Apoteca Natura Pharmacy

The restyling of the Apoteca Natura Pharmacy in Ponte a Greve introduced a new format designed to give pharmacists more time for consultation and direct interaction with customers.

A key element of the project is the Pharmacy Automation System supplied by Pharmathek, which manages the storage, retrieval and delivery of medicines while reducing the time pharmacists spend on logistical operations.

An automated system for medicine management

The system records, stores and retrieves medicines automatically before delivering them to the required dispensing point. This allows pharmacists to reduce the time dedicated to locating and handling prescription medicines and to focus more closely on professional advice and customer service.

Pharmathek developed the solution according to the operational requirements of the pharmacy, integrating the automation system into the new format rather than treating it as an independent technical installation.

A 30-metre conveyor system connects the dispensing points

A network of conveyor belts extending for approximately 30 metres distributes medicines to different areas of the pharmacy. Products can be delivered to dedicated dispensing points, including the central information area, the counter and other workstations.

Helical lifts form part of the distribution system, allowing medicines to move between the automated storage area and the different dispensing locations.

The system therefore combines automated storage, retrieval and internal distribution within a single workflow. By transferring repetitive logistical operations to the automation system, the pharmacy can use staff time and available space more effectively while allowing pharmacists to concentrate on consultation and customer service.
