Café interior design: Ember in Saratov

Ampio tavolo conviviale con lampada a sospensione e albero da interno – layout multifunzionale per una caffetteria dall’atmosfera rilassata.

In Saratov, a Russian city on the Volga River, Quadrum Studio has completed the café interior design for Ember, creating a contemporary hospitality space that adapts naturally to different moments of the day. In the morning, it operates as a coffee shop and artisanal bakery, while in the evening it becomes a more intimate setting for informal dining.

Café interior design with natural materials and warm tones

The interiors are defined by a restrained color palette, dominated by neutral tones and natural materials. Walls and ceilings are finished with decorative plaster, in dialogue with natural wood flooring and irregular-grain terrazzo inserts. The result is a welcoming and balanced space.

A multifunctional café layout

The dark-stained oak counter, topped with marble-effect porcelain stoneware, integrates discreetly into the layout. At the same time, the red coffee machine introduces a distinctive visual element, becoming a recognizable focal point within the space.

Upholstered seats in grey-green fabric alternate with wooden and metal chairs, arranged around solid wood tables and marble-effect surfaces. This composition supports both quick daytime use and a more relaxed evening atmosphere.

Lighting and art as part of the atmosphere

Works by artist Lily Kovgan, created specifically for Ember, enrich the interior with a delicate visual narrative. The lighting scheme is organized on several levels, combining spotlights, suspended spheres and decorative luminous elements.

Rather than acting as a purely functional layer, lighting contributes to the identity of the project, defining the space in a discreet and effective way.

Comfort, conviviality and flexible use

The large central wooden table forms the social core of the project. Its scale encourages conviviality, while the surrounding seating system allows the interior to respond to different flows of customers throughout the day.

The presence of natural elements and the flexible arrangement of the furnishings confirm the intention to design a café with a versatile character, able to shift between bakery, coffee shop and evening venue.
