In the dynamic setting of the India International Hospitality Expo in Greater Noida, the “Desert Tranquility” installation introduces a new concept of interior design for hospitality, blending minimalism and comfort in an atmosphere inspired by desert landscapes. This project represents a perfect balance between nature and design, creating an environment that rejuvenates the spirit and promotes well-being.
A Fluid and Embracing Design
The “Desert Tranquility” concept is rooted in a design language that embraces fluid modernism: clean, curved lines seamlessly merge with a desert-inspired color palette, featuring hues of terracotta, beige, and sand that establish a calm and inviting atmosphere. The sunset-inspired wallpaper serves as the focal point, enhancing the feeling of serenity and lightness.
The furniture pieces, including the bed, sofa, and rugs, showcase wavy, flowing silhouettes, reminiscent of shifting sand dunes. Meanwhile, natural materials and textured elements—such as plush upholstery and tasseled pillows—amplify the sense of comfort. Soft lighting and organic decor complete the look, transforming the space into a luxurious retreat that fosters well-being through its connection to nature.
The Heart of the Space: A Cozy and Inviting Bed
The most striking feature of the room is undoubtedly the oversized, cushioned bed, designed to be both inviting and comforting. Upholstered in burnt-orange fabric, it creates a warm, cocoon-like effect. The natural wood flooring further strengthens the connection to nature, while accessories such as the fluid-shaped mirror frame and the metallic flower-shaped floor lamp reinforce the organic theme.
The built-in rhythmic side table, with its seamless and unbroken lines, enhances the sense of fluidity and minimalism, ensuring functionality without overwhelming the space.
A Showcase of Excellence in Hospitality Design
“We had the opportunity to design and execute a hotel room mock-up in collaboration with the IIID (Indian Institute of Interior Designers), Delhi Chapter, for the India International Hospitality (IHE) Expo at Expomart, Greater Noida. This annual event sees a tremendous global audience, including hospitality industry leaders and companies looking for sourcing solutions. We were given a 5m x 4m space to design and execute the setup within three weeks.” – shares Shweta Kaw of Studio Meraki.
With its perfect balance of aesthetics and functionality, the Desert Tranquility project demonstrates how interior design can transform hospitality spaces into welcoming, rejuvenating environments, where every detail is carefully curated to offer a unique and immersive guest experience.
