Caposerio Uomo: sartorial identity and architectural language in the heart of Cefalù

In the historic center of Cefalù — a coastal gem on Sicily’s northern shore — Caposerio Uomo renews its image through a refined architectural intervention that blends contemporary elegance with respect for local heritage. A benchmark for men’s style and quality for generations, the boutique is now the subject of a sophisticated design reinterpretation signed by architect Francesco Pitruzzella.

An unusual spatial layout for an immersive retail experience

Located on the ground floor of a historic building, the boutique unfolds around the building’s main entrance and stairwell, resulting in a distinctive horseshoe-shaped floor plan. This configuration inspired a fluid and enveloping layout: the interior path winds around a partially hollowed-out central core, which becomes both an exhibition nucleus and a point of spatial orientation.

A continuous surface of bronzed mirrors conceals storage and service areas with elegance and discretion, revealing a scenographic interior where material and light are in constant dialogue. At the heart of the space, a reflective “box” is set within a more tactile and opaque volume — clad in natural clay surfaces and American walnut wood — creating a refined play between transparency and materiality

Louvered light, light and shadow effects, and expressive volumes

The intervention subtly reveals the building’s original structure through architectural openings and external perforations, partially screened by tall bronze-aluminum and wood louvers. These elements filter natural light, generating a poetic alternation of shadow and illumination that enhances spatial perception.

The artificial lighting — designed by Viabizzuno — is fully integrated into the furnishings and display systems. Through targeted accent lighting, it enhances both the featured products and the three-dimensionality of the architectural volumes.

Custom furnishings and refined material choices

The project stands out for its artisanal attention to materials and the functional coherence of the interior solutions. The display systems — designed to follow the irregular levels of the existing floor — intuitively define functional areas throughout the boutique.

Furnishings by Laredo blend seamlessly into the architecture, supporting the retail activity while fostering a welcoming, sophisticated atmosphere. The warm tactility of Matteo Brioni’s natural clay surfaces, combined with dynamic louvers and rotating systems by Rilux, define a sensorial, contemporary space in which every element contributes to building the brand’s visual identity.

A tale of style between tradition and modernity

Caposerio Uomo is more than just a store — it is a statement of Sicilian sartorial excellence, expressed through an architectural concept that gracefully balances tradition and modernity, materiality and light, function and beauty.
