Designed by Volks Design & Research Consulting Ltd, the WOSA showroom in Shanghai takes visitors on an artistic journey through a diverse range of materials. Distinctive structures showcase different types of sintered stone and their applications. A white stone veil leads into an evocative space where deep black stone contrasts with a striking curved staircase clad in golden slabs. Further inside, suspended stone sculptures, mirrored walls, and digital storytelling immerse guests in a captivating experience.
A Repurposed Factory Becomes a Sintered Stone Showroom
Housed within a repurposed 580-square-meter factory, this exhibition space redefines the traditional concept of a sintered stone showroom by blending art, architecture, and retail into a unique sensory journey.
Innovative Design Elements and Materials
At the entrance, small architectural structures highlight innovative stone materials and lightweight construction techniques. A suspended translucent curtain, crafted from thin slabs of white sintered stone, introduces a black stone-clad space that culminates in a curved staircase wrapped in golden stone. The pathway then leads to a metallic VIP chamber, where a sophisticated wooden mosaic interior evokes the sensation of navigating through a layered and textural metropolis.
Immersive Storytelling and Boundless Spaces
As the showroom unfolds, it gives the impression of a boundless space: stone volumes appear to float, mirrored ceilings amplify perceptions, and LED screens narrate the story behind each material. Toward the end of the journey, a landscape inspired by volcanic formations adds a playful, interactive dimension. Within this setting, a contemporary stone sculpture serves as both a gathering point and a bar counter, encouraging visitors to engage in discussions about incorporating these materials into their own projects.
