The retail momentum continues on Broadway with the opening of Shiekh Shoes last Friday, July 10 and first reported their downtown arrival by DTLA Rising back in November 2014.
Located near the very up-and-coming intersection of 8th and Broadway where Urban Outfitters, Gap Factory Store, and the Broadway Trade Center project are helping to redefine the block, Shiekh adds a nice sneaker and athletic attire option to a growing and diverse shopping district in the making.
With over 140 locations in 10 states (mostly in California), the new Shiekh store on Broadway is also officially the first flagship store for Los Angeles coming in at about 6,000 square feet (only the San Francisco flagship store is larger).
I must admit I was very pleasantly surprised just how nice the DTLA location was inside. The cavernous store with its ultra-high ceilings is accented by brick-wrapped columns that give the space a great modern and industrial vibe befitting for a flagship store in urban Downtown LA.
To distinguish itself from other Shiekh stores, the new flagship concept not only carries a full line of sneakers and attire for men, women, and children with brands like Nike, Adidas, and Converse, but it is also the only store in Los Angeles according to the sales associate I spoke to that has its own dedicated Jordan apparel section demarcated by a large glowing “23” sign for the renowned basketball player’s team number.
Apparently, this store carries an exclusive selection of Jordans you won’t find at any other Shiekh store outside of their other flagship in San Francisco.
