The Stecco Jewelry Store is one of the historic retail spaces overlooking Piazza dei Signori, in the historic centre of Vicenza. Located on a prominent corner with display windows on two façades, the store benefits from strong urban visibility and forms part of the network of historic boutiques that define the architectural identity of the city centre.

To update the store’s image and improve the organisation of the display areas, the owners commissioned a renovation project by the Vicenza-based studio Arquitect Contract. The design is signed by architects Luca Biancoviso and Carlotta La Jacona, who specialise in commercial interior design and exhibition architecture for jewellery and watch retail.

Stecco Jewelry Store Vicenza: a modern retail interior

The project aims to renew the identity of the store while improving the presentation of the jewellery collections. The interior layout has therefore been redesigned to expand the space dedicated to customers and introduce a more flexible display system compared to the previous configuration.

The location also has a personal connection with the designers: architect Carlotta La Jacona’s family business previously occupied the same premises. This circumstance added an additional layer to the design process, linking the memory of the place with a new spatial configuration.

Display layout and design strategy

The former horseshoe-shaped display counters have been replaced with a new spatial configuration designed to improve circulation and product visibility. A long display counter runs along one side of the shop and connects seamlessly with the cashier desk, while the opposite wall hosts a vertical display case that organises the jewellery presentation and leaves the centre of the space free for customers.

Reeded decorative detailing

All custom furniture elements feature a reeded decorative motif created through precision grooves developed specifically for the project. The pattern is framed by chrome-effect profiles and highlighted by grazing light that enhances the three-dimensional texture of the surfaces.

Opposite the entrance, a wallpaper with a soft nature-inspired pattern creates a scenic backdrop for visitors entering the store. The motif extends across both walls and furniture, establishing visual continuity throughout the interior. White and green lacquer finishes complete the palette, contributing to a warm and refined atmosphere.

Lighting design for jewellery display

Lighting plays a crucial role in jewellery retail, where the perception of materials and gemstones depends largely on the quality of illumination. For the Stecco Jewelry Store, Arquitect Contract developed a dynamic white LED lighting system designed specifically for the display cases.

The system allows remote control through a mobile application and manages eleven different display zones. Each area can be adjusted with variable colour temperature ranging from 2,500 K to 7,000 K, enabling the lighting to be tailored to the jewellery collections on display.
