Ottica Horus: a dialogue between industrial design and Mediterranean inspiration in the heart of Sicily

Facciata di Vision Ottica Horus a Termini Imerese progettata da PiùStore

Vision Ottica Horus, designed by PiùStore under the creative direction of Adriana Genro, elegantly balances heritage and modernity. Located in Termini Imerese, a town in the province of Palermo, the store sits in a historic square overlooking the cathedral. The project boldly reimagines the identity of an optical store, immersing it in the light and atmosphere of the Mediterranean.

An optical store that welcomes like a village bar

The client’s desire to relocate the business to a more central and representative location was the starting point for the project. The goal: preserve service excellence while radically redefining the shopping experience. The design concept—drawn from the informal conviviality of traditional village cafés—translates into an open and inviting space, conceived to attract, welcome, and retain visitors. The layout encourages exploration through fluid pathways that stimulate curiosity and foster interaction.

Contrasting materials and a rich, evocative palette

The design is marked by a refined interplay of contrasts: matte surfaces, natural light wood, and dark industrial finishes define a balanced, contemporary interior where materiality becomes a design language. Generous natural light filters through large windows overlooking the square and is complemented by precise technical lighting, creating dynamic, atmospheric settings that shift with the time of day.

Bespoke furniture and circular design approach

Every furnishing element was custom-designed for the project: from eye-testing stations to eyewear displays and storage modules, many of which were crafted by repurposing drawers from the former store. This choice combines sustainability, functionality, and emotional value—projecting the past into a new aesthetic dimension.

Light and depth to craft a fluid narrative

The dialogue between natural and artificial lighting is one of the project’s key features. Directional spotlights and strategically placed LED strips highlight the products on display and sculpt the spatial depth with precision. The result is a constantly evolving environment that delivers new visual experiences throughout the day.

Sensory comfort and meticulous detailing

The integration of preserved greenery on the walls not only improves acoustics but also enhances the overall ambiance, creating a calm and welcoming environment. Every detail has been carefully considered—textures, colours, and materials were chosen to enrich the customer experience and turn every visit into a memorable moment.
