Tandoor Restaurant Barcelona: Tradition and Modernity in Indian Cuisine

TANDOOR restaurant Barcelona designed by isabel lopez vilalta

Tandoor Restaurant, located on Carrer Aragó in Barcelona, offers a fresh and contemporary approach to traditional Indian cuisine. Led by chef Ivan Surinder, the restaurant is a family project that reflects both culinary heritage and a bold, modern spirit.

A Legacy of Indian Hospitality

Originally founded in 1996 by Oberoi Surinder and Poonam Chitra, Tandoor Restaurant has deep roots in Indian culinary tradition. Years later, their son Ivan Surinder brought a new vision to the space, transforming it into a restaurant that respects its origins while embracing contemporary design and dining expectations.

Industrial Interiors with a Personal Touch

The interior design, curated by Isabel López Vilalta + Associates, combines industrial materials with warm textures and personal elements. White-painted ceilings, metal wall panels, concrete finishes, and soft lighting work together to create an inviting yet modern atmosphere. Curtains are used to subtly divide the space, while original artwork by Outro Studio adds a burst of color and personality.
