Pasta B, part of the Jing Hua chain and specialized in dumpling preparation, brings to Milan a restaurant concept inspired by Singapore’s urban food culture. For this project, Garde Italy was commissioned to recreate the atmosphere of the original venue, starting from a direct observation of its context.
The reference is a lively street lined with small eateries, steam, aromas and compact spaces where the kitchen directly engages with the public realm. Translated into the Milanese context, this scenario takes shape in a compact yet clearly defined environment, where interior design, layout and spatial perception contribute to a coherent dining experience.
A Singapore-inspired restaurant in the center of Milan
The atmosphere is simple and minimal, yet defined by vibrant colors that remain visually balanced. Located in via Hoepli 3, a short distance from Piazza della Scala, Pasta B is conceived as a space dedicated to handmade Chinese dumplings and other dishes rooted in Singaporean culinary tradition.

Layout and relationship between kitchen and public space
The kitchen opens directly onto the street through a large window, allowing customers to observe the preparation of gyoza in real time. This connection between interior and exterior enhances the clarity of the concept and makes the production process part of the dining experience.
Benches are positioned along the window to increase seating capacity, while the spatial organization is defined by a continuous wall connecting the ground floor with the basement level, creating a sense of continuity throughout the project.
Materials, colors and spatial atmosphere
One of the interior walls features rough wooden slats, designed to evoke the image of an urban street. The wall behind the kitchen reproduces the visual identity of the original Singapore location, using more muted tones while maintaining the dynamic character of an Asian eatery.
Openings help reduce the perception of the underground level, while bleached-finish tables are combined with chairs in different colors. The combination of materials, finishes and furniture creates an environment that is both welcoming and visually active.

Garde Italy and the interior design approach
Attention to detail, combined with an informal yet controlled atmosphere, gives customers the impression of being immersed in a reinterpreted Asian urban context. The project shows how restaurant interior design can work through materials, layout and perception to build a clear identity even in compact spaces.
