Opium Eyewear Pop-Up in Mumbai by Renesa Studio

Opium Eyewear modular display system with neon green accents

At Mumbai airport, Renesa Studio designed a 12 sqm pop-up store for Opium Eyewear as a compact retail environment defined by a continuous modular grid, curved surfaces and neon green accents.

The project translates the brand’s eyewear identity into a highly graphic spatial system, using repetition, mirrors and individual product platforms to organise display and circulation within the limited footprint.

A modular grid defines the retail space

The design is structured around an 8 × 4 inch grid that extends across walls, flooring, furniture and display elements, creating a continuous visual language throughout the store.

Within this system, each pair of glasses is presented on an individual platform, highlighted by neon green accents that interrupt the predominantly black-and-white composition.

The repetition of the modules establishes order, while selective variations in colour, depth and reflection create a more dynamic reading of the compact space.

Display and circulation follow a curved layout

The arched entrance introduces visitors into a one-way circulation sequence that follows the curvature of the store.

Display modules bend with the perimeter, while collapsible shelves, mirrored surfaces and projecting elements create alternating recesses and volumes along the walls.

This configuration allows the product presentation to remain visually continuous while adapting to the irregular geometry of the pop-up.

Mirrors and colour blocking reinforce the visual identity

Mirrors are positioned on both sides of the central cashier desk, multiplying views of the display system and creating a stronger sense of movement within the 12 sqm interior.

The cashier unit follows the same modular language as the surrounding architecture, acting as both a functional element and a point of orientation within the circulation.

The overall composition relies on a restrained palette of black, white and fluorescent green, using colour blocking to give the store a recognisable and highly graphic character.

A compact optical store designed around product interaction

The project treats eyewear display as the central architectural device of the space. Shelving, mirrors, circulation and colour are integrated into a single system that allows customers to approach and compare products at different points along the route.

By combining a rigid grid with curved geometry and selective visual interruptions, Renesa Studio gives the temporary store a strong identity while maintaining the functional clarity required by an optical retail environment.
