The Nueva Indian Boutique Store in Ahmedabad, designed by Shayona Consultant, is a 35 sqm textile boutique located inside the Taj Skyline. The project combines a natural material palette with references to Indian folk art through custom-made furniture and tailored display systems designed for a compact retail environment.
Exposed concrete, wood, brass, lime plaster, metalwork and mirrored surfaces establish a coherent material language throughout the boutique.
Natural materials establish the identity of the textile boutique
The exposed-concrete ceiling is paired with smooth lime-plaster finishes applied to the walls and floor, creating a restrained interior with a rustic character. The natural surfaces provide a backdrop for the light-toned display units, allowing the textile collections to remain visually prominent.
At the centre of the boutique, a custom table is made from a reclaimed heritage wooden door and completed with a glass top. It is one of the defining pieces of furniture in the project and is paired with carved wooden chairs that reinforce the reference to traditional craftsmanship.

Minimal furniture creates more space for movement
One of the main design objectives is to soften the perception of the compact interior through soft colours, arches and rounded edges. The limited number of furniture elements creates more space for movement within the boutique.
The recurring arch motif extends from the display units to the mirrored wall, establishing a consistent design language throughout the store.

Display systems are tailored to the textile collections
To respond to the limited floor area, the boutique combines open metal shelving with light-toned arched display units. Each unit is dimensioned according to the quantity of stock to be displayed.
Dedicated openings for dupattas and shelves designed for thaan fabric rolls introduce display solutions developed specifically for the textile collections. These details integrate product presentation with the bespoke furniture system while maintaining visual order within the compact interior.

Mirrors, lighting and handcrafted details enhance the interior
The mirrored wall enhances the perception of space and creates a visual backdrop for the display furniture. Hand-shaped wall elements are used to present traditional purses, combining decoration with product display while responding to the limited dimensions of the boutique.
The reception counter is also made on site and refers to stamps used in textile production. A silver-and-gold textured wall defines the background of the counter and reinforces its presence within the store.
Lighting combines ceiling-mounted track lights with diffused illumination positioned behind the display units, highlighting the furniture while enhancing the perception of the interior. The continuity between materials, furniture and wall treatments establishes a consistent design language throughout the boutique.
