Within the field of store design, the B.C. Glacier Water Store Nanjing is an example of experiential retail design that brings together architecture, art and commercial function.
In Nanjing, X+Living transforms a transitional area between a museum and a shopping mall into a miniature art gallery, creating an immersive space inspired by buttonwood trees (Conocarpus erectus).

Experiential retail design inspired by nature
The concept is based on a vision that evokes the ephemeral dimension of natural phenomena, translating poetic references into architectural form.
The space is conceived as a symbolic threshold between the artistic dimension and everyday life, shaped through a visual language inspired by Impressionist art.
An immersive concept between columns and light
White columns, similar to branches, extend towards a curved ceiling, generating a fluid and continuous composition.
The store layout integrates a bar counter and lounge area, creating an environment where sculptural elements and diffused lighting define rhythm and depth.

Retail and art in a contemporary micro-museum
The project takes shape as a hybrid space that combines retail, relaxation areas and services, while maintaining visual continuity through curved surfaces and transparent elements.
A display wall with coloured elements creates abstract visual compositions, while classical statues emerge in backlight, introducing a symbolic dimension.
Experience and perception of space
Retail lighting contributes to the perceptual construction of the space, defining contrasts and depth.
Together, these elements generate an immersive environment where the shopping experience becomes a sensory journey.
