Fosca: an immersive pop-up design between geometry and storytelling

Fosca is an immersive pop-up design created by Casa Antillón to explore new modes of interaction between space, product, and visitor. The project stands out for its lightweight, mobile, and highly flexible structure, designed to host temporary events, travelling markets, and narrative brand experiences.

At the core of the installation are three removable modular structures, each measuring 5 x 2.5 meters. Built using 25 mm metal tubing, these structures function as small ephemeral architectures, capable of transforming any surrounding space into a changeable, immersive, and dynamic scenario. The modular nature of the volumes allows for endless possibilities of adaptation.

Suspended forms and chromatic scenographies

A key feature of Fosca is the presence of three-dimensional suspended niches, made of painted metal. Some are highlighted with vibrant inner colours – such as blue, acid green or lemon yellow – while others reveal the raw appeal of oxidised metal. These elements, with varied shapes and orientations, appear to float within the spatial composition.

A system of shelves and magnets allows brands to customise each niche easily and creatively, turning every product into a scenographic focal point. Lighting plays a fundamental role, enhancing textures, materials, and the expressive geometry of the installation.

From December 6th to 8th, 2024, Fosca was featured as the main installation for an ephemeral Christmas market set up at the Innside by Meliá Apolo hotel in Barcelona. Each brand was able to personalise its display space, fully leveraging the flexibility of the modular system.

The event proved the effectiveness of Fosca as a replicable solution for travelling exhibitions, experiential campaigns, and high-impact temporary setups. The project stands out as a successful example of ephemeral retail design, capable of leaving a lasting impression through its narrative strength and visually distinctive form.

Casa Antillón

Casa Antillón is a collective working across art, design, and architecture, founded by Marta Ochoa, Ismael López, Yosi Negrín, and Emmanuel Álvarez. Their research focuses on the in-between spaces where different disciplines intersect, resulting in projects that—regardless of scale—share a creative process aimed at crafting radical and evocative experiences. Through a collective and multidisciplinary approach—expressed via images, poetry, reflection, or material—Casa Antillón develops interventions that operate in both the real and the imagined, in physical as well as digital realms.
