ZOOCO ESTUDIO has developed an innovative interior design concept for three Babette bakeries in Madrid, aiming to surpass the traditional layout of the sector, which is often characterized by a clear separation between public and private areas. The project is inspired by the atmosphere of a domestic dining room, placing a central table as the focal point of the space to blur this boundary and enhance the customer experience.
Shopping is no longer a simple act of observing and ordering but becomes an immersive journey, allowing customers to interact more freely with the products and gain a deeper understanding of their quality and craftsmanship.
From a material perspective, the concept is developed through a harmonious combination of wood, textiles, and glass, enhanced by warm and focused lighting. This approach helps create a welcoming and familiar environment, moving away from the traditional retail aesthetic.
Babette Bakery – Calle General Díaz Porlier 34
In this location, the concept translates into a space that evokes the conviviality of a dining room. The absolute protagonist is an imposing oak table, where different types of bread are displayed, inviting customers to interact directly with the products.

Selected materials—wood, textiles, and glass—are thoughtfully combined, while warm, focused lighting enhances both the inviting atmosphere and the quality of the displays. This design approach moves beyond traditional retail schemes, turning the act of shopping into a more immersive and sensory-driven experience.
Babette Bakery – Calle Orellana 16
At the Calle Orellana 16 location, the space is reinterpreted with an artisanal touch, reminiscent of a traditional bakery workshop. Once again, the central wooden table serves as the focal point of the setup, while the walls feature metal structures that host display and operational surfaces.

A more industrial character emerges through the use of metal profiles, microcement, terrazzo, and glass. Yet, the consistent presence of wood and the warm lighting soften the overall effect, achieving a balanced dialogue between modernity and warmth.
Babette Bakery – Paseo de la Habana 52
In this location, the concept revolves around the reinterpretation of a domestic kitchen. A round wooden table, placed at the center of the space on a ceramic tile rug, becomes the heart of the environment, reinforcing the connection to a home-like atmosphere.
The walls, entirely clad in tiles of varying sizes, contrast with a microcement floor, while the upper wall sections and ceiling are treated with sprayed concrete. Mirrored surfaces on the furniture doors and the base of the table amplify the perception of space, adding brightness and depth to the environment.

Each space has been designed to highlight the artisanal quality of Babette’s products, offering customers a unique and engaging environment. Thanks to this innovative design approach, ZOOCO ESTUDIO has redefined the traditional bakery concept, transforming it into an immersive experience that feels closer to the comfort of home.
