La Maison Lavande:  a “farm-to-boutique” concept in the heart of Montreal

La Maison Lavande Montréal

A minimalist concept combining natural materials and new retail demands

Renowned for its lavender-based personal care products and the bucolic atmosphere of its estate in Saint-Eustache, La Maison Lavande arrives in the heart of Montreal with its first retail boutique at Complexe Desjardins. The interior design project, curated by the Lemay studio, reinterprets the essence of the brand in a compact 500-square-foot surface, creating a sensory environment that blends natural aesthetics and contemporary functionality—tailored to a seamless retail and e-commerce experience.

Interior design inspired by lavender fields

Inspired by the lavender fields, a distinctive hallmark of the brand’s identity, the boutique offers a calm and enveloping experience through a refined yet essential architectural language. Cream and lavender tones blend with soft textures and curved volumes. White oak shelving, lavender-speckled terrazzo podiums, and a sculpted velour wall create a harmonious ambiance where materials and seasonal fragrances work together to promote a diffuse sense of well-being.

Lighting and layout for a sensory retail space

Lighting plays a key role in shaping the space: an indirect cove lighting system enhances the sense of naturalness, highlighting the softness of the lines and the material warmth of the wood. The layout, designed with spatial intelligence, integrates hidden workstations and discreet storage, maximizing functionality within a limited footprint. The boutique thus successfully merges the physical in-store experience with the logistical needs of e-commerce, while also hosting promotional events and activities.

A boutique as an extension of the estate

“We wanted to create a space that would act as a sensory extension of the La Maison Lavande estate, capable of evoking calm and well-being through the intentional use of materials and forms, while also offering a personal experience both online and offline,” explains Hani Diab, Design Director at Lemay.

Sustainable design and brand vision

The contrast between the boutique’s serene atmosphere and the surrounding Brutalist architecture of the shopping center enhances its scenic impact: a visual and sensory destination that invites passersby to slow down and reconnect with nature.

The concept also represents a clear statement of intent for the brand’s future: the use of sustainable materials and timeless design solutions becomes the starting point for a new generation of retail spaces, capable of blending luxury, authenticity, and operational flexibility.
