In Panchkula, Haryana, Swarn Jewellers is a 200 sqm jewellery store designed by Studio Ardete around a strong contrast between dark reflective surfaces, gold accents and red display niches. The interior translates the identity of the jewellery brand into an architectural language in which display, lighting and materiality contribute to the presentation of the collections.
Developed across two levels, the project uses the linear proportions of the existing space to organise a sequence of showcases and consultation areas. Black and gold establish the dominant palette, while mirrors and reflective surfaces multiply the perception of the interior and reinforce the presence of the jewellery.
Black and gold as a retail identity
The design takes the idea of “Swarn” — gold — as the starting point for the interior. At the entrance, a composition inspired by a cluster of stars introduces the visual language of the store, while gold details continue throughout the space as frames, profiles and suspended elements.
On the ground floor, the walls are organised by a sequence of display niches. Their red quilted interiors provide a contrasting background for individual jewellery pieces, while broad gold frames emphasise each display as an independent element within the composition.

Reflective surfaces and display systems
Behind the displays, black surfaces reinforce the depth of the interior. A perforated black vinyl layer combined with backlit acrylic creates a pattern of gradually fading points of light, introducing an abstract reference to a rain of gold.
Reflection plays an equally important role in the perception of the store. The glossy dark surfaces and reflective ceiling extend the visual height of the interior and multiply the presence of lighting fixtures, showcases and gold details.
Long glass counters run parallel to the display walls and provide dedicated areas for viewing the jewellery. Upholstered seating introduces a softer component within the otherwise highly reflective material palette and supports a more personal interaction between customers and staff.
A different display language on the lower level
The basement develops the same material identity through a darker and more articulated display system. Jewellery is presented on individual supports and inside glass cases, while illuminated red niches continue along the perimeter walls.
Freestanding showcases framed by slender black metal structures organise the central area. Their repetition creates a sequence along the circulation route while maintaining clear views across the space.

At the back, a composition of gold-coloured metallic frames suspended from the ceiling introduces another layer to the display environment. The repeated geometry establishes a visual rhythm and draws attention towards the jewellery presented below.
Lighting and reflections shape the interior
Lighting is integrated into the overall composition rather than treated as a separate element. Spotlights illuminate individual display niches and showcases, while sculptural suspended fixtures become visible features of the interior.
The combination of direct light and reflective surfaces produces multiple visual layers. Black ceilings, mirrors and glossy finishes provide a dark background against which gold frames, illuminated displays and jewellery stand out more clearly.

Through this controlled contrast of colour, light and reflection, Studio Ardete gives the two levels of Swarn Jewellers a consistent identity while adapting the display system to their different spatial conditions. Jewellery remains the focal point, framed by an interior in which gold elements, dark surfaces and carefully positioned lighting define the overall retail experience.
