The new make-up studio created for the renowned Indian make-up artist Jasneet comes to life through a project that blends theatricality, functionality, and a distinctive visual identity. Titled The Contoured Arches, the concept introduces an interior language built on layered arches, reflective surfaces, and a vibrant palette designed to enhance the client experience.
A Scenic Concept by Bora Da Design
Designed by Bora Da Design Studio, the space reveals a luxurious and theatrical atmosphere. The design team observed how social media and digital communication have reshaped the cosmetics industry, turning image into a universal language. For this reason, the studio was conceived to be not only functional but also highly photogenic, naturally integrating with the world of visual storytelling.
The project is driven by a carefully orchestrated explosion of colours, enriched by sparkling golden reflections and luminous surfaces. The petal-shaped logo also plays a key design role, reappearing in the sculpted mirror frames to reinforce the brand identity.
A Functional Layout with a Theatrical Atmosphere
The layout is clean and intuitive. The make-up stations occupy both side walls: one side features multiple workstations for junior make-up artists, while the opposite side is reserved for Jasneet’s exclusive station. Each station includes integrated drawers and concealed power outlets to support professional workflow.
Mirrors are the true signature element of the interior. The arched frames, layered over antique-finish mirrors and reflective surfaces, create a visual rhythm that echoes the logo’s shape and defines each workstation. The interplay of volumes generates a petal-like effect, amplifying the scenic character of the space.
Opposite the stations, a striking lip-shaped sofa sits beneath the “Make up by Jasneet” neon sign, creating a perfect Instagrammable spot where clients can capture their post-make-up look.
Natural Lighting for Accurate Colour Rendering
Lighting plays a central role, as colour rendering is essential in a make-up studio. The designers opted for neutral tones to ensure faithful colour perception on the skin. Adjustable track-mounted spotlights eliminate shadows and dark zones, while a large central chandelier adds an elegant touch without compromising functional lighting.
Colour Palette and Material Details
The palette is defined by the contrast between a brilliant powder-blue tone and brushed gold accents, creating a constant dialogue between vibrancy and sophistication. Golden inserts highlight the legs of the make-up stations, while the mirror frames enhance the overall brightness of the interior. Black chairs were selected for durability and practicality.
The diagonally laid black-and-white floor, with a subtle terrazzo-inspired texture, adds rhythm and a contemporary feel. Overall, the space balances striking aesthetic choices with professional functionality, creating an immersive environment that communicates the world of beauty through form, light, and colour.
