Breadily Baked Patisserie in Mumbai: interiors shaped by faces and graphic patterns

arredamento pasticceria Breadily SSK Associates

Designed by SSK Associates, Breadily Baked is a 65 sqm patisserie in Mumbai whose interior concept explores human expression through faces, graphic patterns and contrasting materials. Decorative plates, mirrors, bold colours and customised details create a distinctive visual identity throughout the space.

Designed by Shilpa Agarwal and Komal Jain of SSK Associates, the project was conceived around the idea of creating a recognisable environment capable of establishing a more personal connection with its customers.

Human expression becomes the recurring visual theme. Faces and facial features appear across different elements of the project, from decorative plates and mirrors to customised furniture, turning a simple graphic motif into part of the spatial identity.

From the entrance veranda to the patisserie

The experience begins in the covered veranda preceding the entrance. A black-and-white geometric floor is combined with a green wall and white chairs featuring red lip motifs, introducing the graphic language that continues inside the patisserie.

The entrance itself combines wood and glass and incorporates the representation of a lion’s face, reinforcing the use of facial imagery as a recurring element of the project.

Inside, a red feature wall provides the backdrop for a composition of decorative plates depicting different faces. Inspired by the visual language of Fornasetti, these elements introduce repetition and variation while reinforcing the relationship between graphic design and interior space.

Faces, mirrors and graphic contrasts

Mirrors in different sizes extend the theme of identity and self-expression while adding reflections and visual depth to the relatively compact interior.

The design uses strong contrasts rather than a uniform material palette. Red and green surfaces are combined with black-and-white graphic elements, while customised furniture introduces further visual details.

Black granite with a leather finish is used on the steps, while the black-and-white tabletops are made from composite stone. Together with wood, glass and mirrored surfaces, these materials create a layered interior in which colour, pattern and texture remain closely connected.

Rather than relying on a conventional decorative scheme, Breadily Baked uses the human face as a recurring design device. From the entrance to the seating and display areas, graphic motifs, materials and reflections give the 65 sqm patisserie a coherent and immediately recognisable identity.
